About Me

My Story

Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to travel the world. I am currently a junior attending Florida International University pursuing a major in Psychology. After my Bachelor's, I plan to obtain a Master's in Occupational Therapy. I'd like to work with kids who struggle with cognitive and/or functional abilities to regain basic functions.

I am currently 22 years old and experiencing life even in its most minuscule blessings. I'd like to describe myself as sweet, creative, and very loving. I thrive in learning new things and grow. I am very outgoing and love talking to anyone and everyone. I have always been in touch with my spiritual self and have pondered over its origins. India being one of my aspirations, made me determined to make it a dream come true. As the home of one of the oldest religions in the world, it was only a given to further extend my knowledge here.  Additionally, I like to practice henna designs. I have also briefly read about Buddhism and am interested in gaining more insight on my journey.

My ultimate passion is to work with kids. In order to shape the future, seeds must be planted and nourished. As a teacher, therapist, or whatever role I acquire, I plan to lead younger generations to ultimately a better world. There's an incomparable happiness associated with the younger generations attitude, almost contagious. Working with students is not only fulfilling but rewarding. I currently work in an elementary school located in the heart of Miami. As the front desk receptionist, it is my top priority to welcome and leave a lasting impression on our guests. Apart from my daily duties, I am also the main source of contact in the office. Working in an area such as Liberty City, exposed me to the uncovered hardships that many families face.  Many kids not only face financial struggles but sometimes a healthy loving relationship at home. With my natural adoration for kids, I have filled in a role of love and caretaking at my school. Now, students not only come down to call their parents but for "Ms. Carol, I'm hungry, do you have food?" Who could say no?  One hug, one candy, one act of love could make any kids day just a little brighter.

In my trip to India, I will focus on mental health; specifically, in pediatrics. Mental health is still a struggling factor for many, especially children. Additionally, how do Eastern countries deal with mental illnesses versus how Western countries do? How are kids with disabilities viewed? In this trip, I hope to document and learn everything I can about this topic to further educate myself and others!

I like to think of my career as one big learning experience that continuously grows with each project and collaboration. Everything that comes in my path is meant for a greater purpose. Curiosity and ambition have led me here to this wonderful journey. I am blessed and grateful to be able to share this experience with you.
